Meeting with Home Movies Foundation

  • Post category:Meeting

“The research group met with the management of the Home Movies Foundation – National Family Film Archive. The Home Movies Archive made itself available to actively participate in the project, both to clarify and better structure its own workshop practices and to adapt to the good practices that may emerge as results of the research. Three points were touched upon: the meta-design worskhops; microclimatic monitoring; and the quanti-qualitative survey.
1. Micro-climate monitoring. Since this first meeting, Home Movies has expressed an interest in participating in collections and vaults monitoring, and as it is currently undergoing a restructuring of its digital archiving workflow, SAFE will be able to contribute also to monitoring this reorganisation phase.
2. Survey. The Home Movies archive has expressed its intention to take part in the survey. This survey will address a number of crucial questions and issues related to the sustainability of both photochemical and digital preservation. It will also explore the concept of stewardship, which implies a complex intertwining of practical functions and curatorial, cultural-political, organisational and other decisions. The involvement of Home Movies will be crucial in analysing and proposing sustainable solutions that can ensure the preservation and enhancement of archival material for future generations.
3. Workshop. Home Movies was invited to participate in the workshops and to take on board the results to raise awareness in view of the monitoring and guidelines. Home Movies, also confirmed its participation in the Stewardship workshop as a speaker and with names of international personalities and experts to be involved as speakers on issues and methodologies to be discussed in the project’s metadesign workshops.”
